The Indians

This year our Indians wowed many with their success this football season, making it to the Area round in play-offs, and many earned district honors for the 2023 season, both for their performance on the field and in the classroom. Players are chosen based on performance during district play in their positions, and those who earn academic all-district honors are those who maintained a 3.6 GPA or higher during the season. 


First on the list is newcomer quarterback Dante Chavez, a junior, who garnered many accolades and caught the attention of many throughout the season, stepping into his new role with a strong presence, leading the Indians to the most victories Morton has seen since at least 2012.  The district voted Dante Chavez as the newcomer of the year, and he also earned academic all-district honors. 

Starting out first team selections for the Indians is junior, Cade Lyon. Lyon earned two first team accolades; 1st team utility player, and 1st team defensive inside line backer. Lyon was also among the many who earned academic all-district honors.

Next on the first team selection list is sophomore, Zephaniah Silvas. Silvas earned 1st team defensive cornerback. Silvas also earned academic all-district honors. 

Closing out the first team all-district recipients is freshman, Brayden Villarreal. Villarreal was an asset to the Indians this year, and he was chosen as a first team defensive punter, and a second team defensive safety. 

Starting the Indians second team selections is senior, Alexander Lopez. Lopez earned his spot for 2nd team as an offensive wide receiver. 

Next for the  Indians second team selections is junior, Andres Bejarano. Bejarano was selected as a 2nd team defensive line-men. 

Next chosen for the second team honors is junior, AJ Mendoza. Mendoza earned second defensive corner back. Mendoza was also one of the many who earned academic all-district honors. 

Next on the second team list is junior, Lane Lyon. Lyon was chosen as a member of the 2nd team as a defensive outside line backer. Lyon also earned academic all-district honors. 

Next for selected for the second team is junior, Christian Enriquez. Enriquez was selected for the 2nd team as an offensive running back. 

Another selection for the 2nd team all-district honors is sophomore, Jaeden Alvarado. Alvarado was chosen as a 2nd team defensive safety. 

Closing out the 2nd team all district honor for the Indians is sophomore, Britton Boggs. Boggs was chosen as a 2nd team offensive lineman.

Several Indians also received honorable mention for the district.  Luis Yanez, Eric Rivas, Ismael Teniente, and Hezekiah Silvas were those that received honorable mention. 

Congratulations to these young men for these accolades and honors! Congratulations to the Indians and their coaches on a spectacular season and we can't wait to see what the future holds for our Indians and Maidens.
